Insulin PP test measures the amount of insulin in your blood, two hours after a meal. Insulin is an important hormone
released by the pancreas, a gland located behind your stomach. It helps the body cells take up glucose from blood and
use it for energy. High glucose levels in blood, also known as hyperglycemia occurs in diabetes. If the pancreas do not
produce enough insulin it causes type 1 diabetes. Body cells becoming resistant to insulin, known as insulin resistance
is seen in type 2 diabetes. Excess of insulin can cause hypoglycemia (low blood glucose), which is a medical emergency.
