Mantoux test Tuberculin Skin Test
A TB skin test measures the patient\'s immune response to an inactivated, or killed, version of Mycobacterium
tuberculosis. This bacteria can spread easily through air, transmitting the infection from person to person. TB
primarily affects the lungs but can also impact other organs and bodily systems such as the brain, kidney, and spine.
This test is conducted by injecting a small amount of testing fluid, also called tuberculin, into the skin of the
forearm and measuring the resulting swelling 48-72 hours later. Patient has to report to the Laboratory on Day 1 and Day
3 of the test.
