It checks for antibodies in the blood, the high levels of which have a positive correlation with celiac disease.Celiac disease is a long-term or chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the digestive system. In this autoimmune disorder, the immune system mistakenly thinks that gluten which is a protein in wheat, barley, rye, and oats, is a foreign invader. It makes antibodies that attack an enzyme in the intestines called tissue transglutaminase (tTG). An autoimmune disorder is diagnosed when your immune cells start attacking the body.
