CT Chest with Contrast Test
CT Chest with contrast is an imaging technique wherein a specialised dye is injected in the vein which highlights certain areas of the chest and upper abdomen and makes the images clearer on the CT. CT stands for computed tomography. It is done when the doctor needs a clearer view of the structures of the chest or the thorax. The thoracic structures include lungs, heart, and the bones around these areas. It is more accurate than xrays as well as CT chest without contrast. Some people may be allergic to contrast dyes and hence proper history and care should be taken.
