Troponin I Test
Troponin I test measures the amount of troponin I in the blood. It is a protein present in the heart muscles and not normally present in blood. It is a cardiac marker elevated only in patients suffering from heart attack (acute Myocardial Infarction). A heart attack occurs when the blood flow to the heart is interrupted. Its symptoms include shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and chest pain. Its levels are elevated within 3 hours after the onset of chest pain. Patients with kidney disease or acute muscle injury show normal levels.
