TB Platinum Quantiferon Test
The Quantiferon-TB Gold test (QFT-G) is a blood test that helps in detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection,
latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and tuberculosis (TB) disease. It is however unable to distinguish between active
tuberculosis disease and latent tuberculosis infection. Active infections present with symptoms like chronic cough,
weight loss, muscle wasting, loss of appetite, etc while latent infection does not show any symptoms but has the
potential to make the person sick. TB generally affects the lungs (Pulmonary TB) but can affect other body parts also
like spine, stomach, skin etc (extra pulmonary TB).
