Anti Jo 1 Antibody Test
Anti-Jo-antibody is an auto-antibody generated against Myositis. Myositis refers to inflammation in muscles. This antibody is present in patients with Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies (IIM). This antibody works against histidyl-t-RNA synthesis and acts as a specific marker of IIM. IIM is a group of autoimmune disorders. It includes polymyositis (PM), Dermatomyositis (DM) and other connective tissue disorders. Increased rates of PM and DM can mark the presence of Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). The presence of Jo-1-antibody in the body indicates polymyositis.
